We spent some time on this here at the house(own son is about the same age). Seems like he was truly a good person. Also seems like some get the chance to do things again, like this would be a "fenderbender" and a good chewing out and the cost of repairs. What do you say? What can you say. Doctors have been wrong before, I hope this kid recovers. Man, so much can change in seconds.....

I wish him the best. It's hard losing anyone, but when it's a child it's much tougher. God bless him and his family.

The 2nd and 3rd opinions are looking pretty decent guys. One doc in C'ville believes he can have a full recovery. The family was going to pull the plug a few days ago without getting a 2nd opinion. Some of their friends talked them into it and things are looking up. They will be moving Rick to C'ville to be closer to the experts now.

Not to dog anyone out, but Ive heard some real horror stories when it comes to Holston Valley. If you have to go to the hospital in Kingsport, you def wanna go to Indian Path.

As for Rick, they poked him in the foot with a pen yesterday and he didnt like that too much. He got a little fired up. [img]/LDPforum/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img] Not bad for someone thats supposedly braindead.

I personally wouldn't got to IP. HV generally is much better IMO. I just think that this seems to be a bad situation. Our family members have been treated horribly at IP, and received much better healthcare from HV.

My youngest brother was injured in a serious car accident and sent from St. Mary's to Holston Valley. The docs and staff there treated him like a dead corpse and our family like trash. My family actually had to physically restrain me and take me outside (and those who know me will tell you that it had to be bad for me to lose my cool, especially in public). I wouldn't pour water on the place if it were burning down. I'd take my kin to a friggin Granny Clampett do it at home doctor before I'd set foot in there again.

We all have our own issues/situation with places. That is sort of the difference in handling stuff I have had with IP vs. HV. I guess truly we shouldn't cast it as much on the hospital itself as the doctor, or nurses handling the situation.

just went thru a bad experience at HV,, family member was scheduled for surgery at 10,,didn't get out of holding room until 4,,, and a few days later doctor came in at noon,, told us when lunch was over to tell the nurses you were ready to go,,, we got out at 6pm,,, no one could tell us anything,

I saw a nurse fake my chart once there. When I have MS flare ups sometimes I have to go in and have IV steriod treatments, get the inflammation of the nerves. Well anyone who has ever had that can tell you it can mess with you especially blood pressure depending on how quick you infuse it. So they have to do 15 mintues checks over the two hours of my BP, and one nurse failed to check it, which it was automatic and I knew what it was so that was not a big thing, when I saw her writing it down though she hadn't checked it I got pissed. While there was nothing to be alarmed about, there could have been and don't sit there and put you did something and didn't. I was in nursing school that is BAD BAD BAD. So I just happened to be there when the nurse case manager came around just to see how the patients were doing and I ratted her out. No one should ever falsify a chart.

i agree Craes,,, my mother was at HV numerous times and for long stays a few years ago,,, and the complete staff bent over backwards to make it pleasant,,, seems something has changed,,, just my opinion..

My post should say Drew, not Derek. I just got a new computer and it has a a program that I had not turned off that gave the idea of what was typed or something
